SLD (short for Second-Level Domain) is the part of URLs (Uniform Resource Locators) that identify the owner connected with an IP address.

For example, “howtogeek” is a second-level domain and “howtogeek.com” is a second-level domain name (and includes the top-level domain name “.com“).
